Beyond poor customer service, this practice pushes the boundaries of legality. It's very suspicious that our well-planned reservation happened to be canceled without our knowledge or consent on a night when the hotel could charge hundreds of dollars more for our room or take it from us to allocate to a "high roller". Based on the demeanor of the front desk employees, this is not an unusual experience for guests (or attempted guests) of Ocean. We were left MAROONED in Atlantic City without a place to stay and absolutely zero concern from the hotel. The staff at the front desk told us that the hotel was sold out and handed us a phone to talk to the reservation department, who said there was nothing they could do for us. We had received a confirmation email from Ocean when we made the reservation but had no subsequent communication from them about cancelation or any other issues. When we arrived to check in, we were told at the front desk that our reservation had been CANCELED BY THE HOTEL. Knowing that hotels in the area would be very busy and we'd had a pleasant stay at Ocean before, we made reservations for a room there two months in advance. We had concert tickets on a Saturday night.
